Porsche Teams Make A Good Start In Free Practice At Fuji

Porsche teams in LMP1 and GT classes have made a good start to their Japanese campaign, with the No.92 Porsche Team Manthey 911 RSR of local Super GT star Frederic Makowiecki (sharing the wheel with Patrick Pilet) fastest in the LMGTE Pro class during FP1.

Both LMP cars made steady progress throughout the morning, however with the track still a little green in places it may take some time to come fully up to speed.

Marc Lieb – no14 Porsche 919 hybrid: “Track is still green, not much grip after the rain yesterday.  Balance with new tyres already OK.”

Mark Webber – no20 Porsche 919 hybrid: “Great start into the weekend, 919 is already running smooth.  We are working to understand tyre compounds.”

Brendon Hartley – no20 Porsche 919 hybrid: “Did my first laps in Fuji in FP1, good fun, difficult track. We need a good aero compromise.”

Full day one report later today.
