Daniel Cammish will mount a championship challenge on the Porsche Carrera Cup GB this season after securing backing from Nationwide Accident Repair Services and a place in the standard-setting Redline Racing team.
The Leeds-based driver has worked through the winter to secure a Carrera Cup programme and is elated to have gained the support of Nationwide. Cammish will bid for the overall title in his first full season in the latest type-991 911 GT3 Cup racer and is widely expected to be one of the major title contenders.
“It’s been a long winter and a long time coming, so it is a huge relief to be able to confirm the deal,” said 2013 Formula Ford champion Cammish (25). “I know how tough the competition will be, but I want to hit the ground running and chase the title. It will be very tight all year and every point will count. I’m with a team with a great pedigree and I want to repay the faith that Nationwide has put in me.”
Nationwide backing for a title-contending Porsche from Redline Racing renews the association that won two Carrera Cup titles with Tim Harvey. The 2008 and 2010 champion is a brand ambassador for Nationwide and has been central to organising the backing for Cammish.
“Nationwide was looking at getting involved again and the re-launched Carrera Cup GB ticked all its boxes,” said Harvey. “I felt that Daniel was the most deserving and talented driver without a drive, so it was good to put the two parties together.
“Nationwide has had a lot of success in the Carrera Cup and so Daniel has a lot to live up to, but I rate him very, very highly. The championship has raised its profile for 2015 and it’s great to help support a very promising young driver.”
