The British teenager, Phil Hanson, has put the #22 United Autosports Ligier on the front of the grid during today’s qualifying session for the 4 Hours of Fuji.
Hanson went just over three-tenths of a second clear of his nearest rival, the Italian driver Andrea Pizzitola, with a stunning 1m:31.685s lap.
Speaking after the qualifying session, Hanson said, “Qualifying went as well as we could have hoped. It is nice to get pole after I gave it away in Shanghai. I’ve learned from my mistakes, and I’m delighted it came all together.
I think we have had a quick car throughout the testing, and I think we have also done a lot of work towards having a fast car in the race, so I am looking forward to it.”
Hanson and co-driver Paul Di Resta will be looking to capitalise on what is the first ALMS pole position of the year for the rookie by racing for the win in Japan on Sunday.
