BMW Unveils Hybrid Powerhouse: The M Hybrid V8 Debuts in Milan's Fashion District

The BMW M Hybrid V8, a significant advancement in the world of motorsports, has arrived at the House of BMW in Milan's Via Montenapoleone. This vehicle heralds BMW M Motorsport's return to the prestigious FIA World Endurance Championship and the iconic 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2024. Visitors can admire the car from November 15th to 28th, with viewing available most days from 10 am to 7 pm.

This hybrid sports car is equipped with the potent P66/3 eight-cylinder turbocharged engine complemented by an electric unit. Originating from the engine used in the BMW M4 DTM, it has undergone extensive modifications to meet the rigorous demands of the LMDH hybrid drive system. Notably, the engine's design allows it to integrate seamlessly into a monocoque chassis without needing an additional subframe. This feature aligns perfectly with the requirements for a turbocharged hybrid engine.

After its debut in the 2023 North American IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, the M Hybrid V8 is set to compete against top-tier hypercars in the 2024 official FIA World Endurance Championship. Its preparation for these high-profile races began with testing sessions at Spa-Francorchamps starting in September.

Adding to its allure, the renowned artist Julie Mehretu will create the twentieth BMW Art Car based on the M Hybrid V8 model. This artistic rendition of the car, showcasing the intersection of high-performance motoring and art, will also be displayed at the House of BMW.
