Craft-Bamboo Racing Makes Triumphant Return to Asian Le Mans Series

Craft-Bamboo Racing is poised to make a much-anticipated comeback to the Asian Le Mans Series (ALMS) after a nine-year absence, last having clinched the CN Class title in 2014. The Hong Kong-based outfit is setting its sights on the GT class championship in the 2024 season, which commences on December 2nd and 3rd in Malaysia.

The team has announced a strong driver trio for their #37 Mercedes-AMG GT3 GT Class entry, featuring 2023 Fanatec GT World Challenge Asia champion Anthony Liu from China, Australian driver Jayden Ojeda, and Andorran racer Jules Gounon. This lineup brings a blend of experience and emerging talent, with Liu known for his speed as an amateur driver, Ojeda's experience from the AMG young drivers test in Barcelona, and Gounon's recent stint with Craft-Bamboo Racing at the 2023 Indianapolis 8 Hour.

Their participation in the ALMS not only marks a return but also a bid to claim the GT class title, providing them an opportunity to compete in the prestigious 24 Hours of Le Mans. The team's history at the Sepang International Circuit, the venue for the first two rounds, is notable with several past successes, including securing the driver’s title with Liu in last season’s Fanatec GT World Challenge Asia finale.

The 2024 ALMS season will challenge teams and drivers over five races, each spanning four hours. The emphasis will be on consistency and car reliability, with maximum points available at each event. After the initial rounds in Malaysia, the series moves to the Dubai Autodrome for a single race, followed by the final two rounds at the Yas Marina Circuit.

Craft-Bamboo Racing's drivers are enthusiastic about their prospects. Liu expressed excitement about rejoining the team and carrying forward their momentum, while Ojeda looks forward to his debut in the series with Craft-Bamboo's experienced team. Gounon is also eager to contribute to the team's success. Team Director Darryl O’Young highlighted the rigorous demands of endurance racing and the team’s focus on maximizing points at each race.

With only five races on the calendar, every point will be crucial in the quest for the ALMS GT class title and the coveted invitation to the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Craft-Bamboo Racing, with its experienced team and skilled driver lineup, is set to be a strong contender in the 2024 season.
