GetSpeed Gears Up for the Coveted Le Mans Ticket: A Dual Mercedes-AMG GT3 Entry in the ALMS

As the winter season of 2023/2024 draws near, GetSpeed, operating out of the Nürburgring business park, is primed for an exhilarating start in the Asian Le Mans Series (ALMS). With two impressively staffed Mercedes-AMG GT3s in their lineup, the team is eyeing a step up from their remarkable third-place finish earlier this year. Under the banner of AlManar Racing by GetSpeed, drivers Al Faisal Al Zubair, Martin Konrad, and Fabian Schiller will share duties in the Mercedes-AMG GT3 bearing the number 7. Meanwhile, Anthony Bartone, Aaron Walker, and Steve Jans will alternate in the sister car, number 9.

The ACO-organised winter series calendar includes five races, commencing with a round at the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia on 2nd/3rd December 2023. This is followed by a race at the Dubai Autodrome on Sunday 4th February 2024, before the season culminates with two final races at the Yas Marina Circuit on 10/11th February 2024. Alongside GetSpeed's GT-class Mercedes-AMG GT3s, the 39-strong field also features LMP2 and LMP3 prototypes.

In 2023, GetSpeed made a successful debut in the ALMS, securing third place in the championship after four races. Team principal Adam Osieka highlights the team's endurance racing roots, particularly on the Nordschleife, emphasising the need to balance individual race focus with the broader dynamic of multiclass racing. The team's maiden effort early in 2023 set a high bar, which they are keen to surpass this season.

The season opener at Sepang presents a new challenge for GetSpeed. The track, designed by German architect Hermann Tilke and opened in 1999, is known for its 15 demanding turns over 5.543 kilometres. Osieka expresses confidence in tackling new circuits, leveraging the team's status as a Mercedes-AMG customer team to secure a solid setup foundation. Experienced drivers are expected to quickly adapt and fine-tune the cars to their preferences.

Martin Konrad will make his debut in GetSpeed's Mercedes-AMG GT3, bringing with him a history of success alongside Osieka, including a Pro-Am class win at the 24 Hours of Spa. Al Faisal and Schiller have already notched wins and podiums in the GetSpeed cockpit, notably in this year's International GT Open. Steve Jans, a long-standing GetSpeed driver, returned to the team in 2022 and has since been a consistent performer in the GT Open. British racer Aaron Walker and newcomer Anthony Bartone have also shown promise, with notable achievements in the GT World Challenge Europe and GT Open, respectively.

The upcoming ALMS season in Sepang will feature two 4-hour races, where teams will be vying for an invaluable prize – a spot in the 2024 Le Mans 24 Hours, which for the first time, will see the inclusion of GT3 vehicles. The quest for the coveted Le Mans ticket begins with determination and high expectations for GetSpeed. We wish them well!
